File Uploads - Common Questions

There are many places throughout the Supplios app where you can upload files.  This article provides an overview of how they work, and common questions.

File Uploads - Overview

The files you upload to Supplios are secured behind the same login system as everything else on the platform.

This means that when you upload a file, only the people who are supposed to see that file will be able to see it or download it.  The exact restrictions depend on where the file is being used.

For example, when uploading a file in the "Content" area of a Sourcing Event, only the vendors who have access to that event, as well as any internal collaborators, will be able to see the file.

What file types are supported?

By default, you can upload files like images, videos, PDFs, Word files (.doc / .docx), Excel files (.xls / .xlsx), Powerpoint files (.ppt / .pptx) and other similar formats.

Most application-specific formats such as CAD files (.stp/.step, .prt, .iges, etc.) cannot be uploaded natively.  Basically, any filetype that your browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox) does not recognize cannot be uploaded natively.  Instead, for these file formats, you can .zip them (either individually or as a group) and upload the .zip file -- that works just fine.

If you have specific file formats that you need supported for native uploads (without putting in a .zip file) please contact our team to request white-listing specific formats.

Is there a size limit for file uploads?

Yes, there is a size limit, and it depends on where the file is being used.

For files you are including in a message or comment sent from the app, files should be 5MB or less.

For files you are uploading for a Sourcing Event, Quality Issue, or other Workflow, the limit is 25MB per file as a default.

If you have special requirements for larger files, please contact our team to request a size limit increase.
